This is the story about #saving, making money and enlarging the money (honey) pot, presented in fabulous historical tales of ancient Babylon, but all the wisdom is applicable 6000 years later, that is today and most probable will be throughout eternity.
Like the law of gravity, these laws of money are universal and unchanging.
Do save 1/10 of all of your
earnings [by paying yourself first]
2.
Money labors diligently and contentedly for the
wise owner who finds for it profitable employment [in other words, let’s invest
the money we are saving from the Rule 1]
Do invest those 1/10
3. Money clings to the protection of the cautious owner who invests it under the advice of (wo)men wise in its handling [update on Rule 2: Invest, but do it wisely. Now how about those Mutual Funds?]
Do invest those 1/10, but do it wisely
Money slips away from the (wo)man who invests it in businesses or purposes with which (s)he is not familiar or which are not approved by those skilled in its keep
Do not invest in in something you cannot understand
Money flees the (wo)man who would
force it to impossible earnings or who follows the alluring advice of
tricksters and schemers or who trusts it to this own inexperience and romantic
desires in investment
Do not be
greedy. There is no such thing as Get-Rich-Quick
Money is the medium by which earthly #success is measured.
Money makes possible the enjoyment of the best the earth
affords.
Money is plentiful for those who understand the simple laws
that govern its acquisition.
Money is governed today by the same laws which controlled it when prosperous men thronged the streets of Babylon.
See also Babylon reconstruction made for the Mesopotamia
exhibition of the Royal Ontario Museum & British Museum at ROM, Toronto. It
is amazing, to think about how many millennia before human race accomplished so
much, and yet we evolved so little in our attitudes, because most of us indeed
measures success with money.
It is 194 pages long book, read it if you haven’t by now and
even better buy several copies for the young people you know – they should
prosper the most with it.
This is Amazon link where you can buy the book.
Oh, you should also now it was written in 1926 and hardheartedly
recommended by Jim Rohn. If you follow his work you will notice he says out of
100 people to whom he recommends the book maybe only two or three actually read
it. Talking about procrastination you will find tale on this unfortunate way of
most men on page 70 (depending of the copy you have it will be in the “Meet the
Goddess of Good Luck” part of the book.
Let me finish with these quotes:
“The spirit of procrastination is within all men…yet how often when opportunity doth appear before us, that spirit of procrastination from within doth urge various delays in our acceptance. In listening to it we do become our own worst enemies”
